At Adelphi University’s annual Hagedorn Lecture last spring, Gene McCarthy—a former executive at illustrious brands including Nike, ASICS, Under Armour and Merrell, and known as “The Godfather of Athletic Footwear”—sat down with New York Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky for a conversation about the importance of intentionally embedding social responsibility into an organization’s DNA, with a specific focus on the world of sports.
